![]() ![]() ![]() I honestly don't know what else to say about this book. I also have to say that I teared up a bit toward the end of the book and that almost never happens. He even includes them in his pre-game rituals. It was a nice little touch because Ari has a thing for the US presidents and knows a lot about them. I really liked the presidential quotes at the beginning of each chapter. Aronson's first foray into middle-grade fiction is spectacular she really nails the voice, the emotions, and the situations that happen as kids grow up. I wasn't quite pulled in from the beginning (perhaps because I'm not much of a sports fan) but as I got further into the story, I got invested in Ari and the other characters. This is a complete 180 from her debut and I really enjoyed it. I loved Aronson's debut Head Case and was really looking forward to reading her follow-up. ![]() But when the card is stolen-and his best friend and the new girl on the team accuse each other of taking it-suddenly Ari can't save a goal, everyone is fighting, and he doesn't know who, or what, to believe in.īefore the team falls apart, Ari must learn how to make his own luck, and figure out what it truly means to be a hero."- summary from Amazon Especially when he's picked to be the starting goalie on his team. WHY YOU SHOULD READ ITĪ moment preserved in time, Stein’s genius representation of her life with her lover in the midst of a blossoming Parisian art scene is part gorgeously written memoir and part precious archive of literary and artistic history. Besides depicting their lifestyles, the book's humorous idea, expert execution and Stein's ability to write for a mass audience is demonstrated by his amusing observations of the writers and artists who were then residing in France. Toklas sits with the men's wives while Stein converses with brilliant men. The lives of Toklas and Stein in Paris are described in the book, including their interactions with intellectuals, literary giants, and painters including Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, Henri Matisse, and Georges Braque at their homes. ![]() The work was first released in The Atlantic Monthly magazine in a condensed form. The work, which was published in 1933, purports to be Toklas's first-person account of Stein's life, written from Toklas's point of view and complete with Toklas's sensitivities, observations, and mannerisms. It’s a big book, but even so, there is only so much we can do with that word length and we have a lot of things left to explore. The second book will focus more on Elara. It will be more like Kate Daniels books, where a single story line is complete in each book, with the overall arc. What do you mean this is a trilogy? Is there a cliffhanger? The photoshoot was for all 3 covers, which is why there were a variety of hair and clothes. The poses in the shoot don’t match the pose on the cover? More information as we go along will be forthcoming. Right now we are leaning toward a male reader. The preorder for print will go up closer to the release date. Audio might come out a bit later than print.
